Thanksgiving Speech Therapy Activities for Kids
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the colors, the cooler air (even here in Florida), the family time, the parades, the dog shows (my little dog Zoey especially loves this :)), and of course the food. And Thanksgiving ushers in my other favorite holiday – Christmas. In speech therapy, Thanksgiving involves themes about food, football, thankfulness, and social skills. Here are some of my favorite Thanksgiving Speech Therapy activities.
1) List as many items as you can think of that you might find on a Thanksgiving Dinner table.
2) Discuss Thanksgiving holiday traditions. What does your family do during the holidays? What is a tradition?
3) Talk about what it means to be thankful. Make a list of things that you are thankful for.
4) Read a Thanksgiving book. Here are a few of my favorites: As an Amazon Affiliate, I may earn commissions from these products.

8) Have a Thanksgiving Feast
Make a recipe together or encourage kids to bring in something to share. A fun idea is making a Fall trail mix together. Ask if kids can bring in something to contribute to the mix: pretzels, M&Ms, chocolate chips,, banana chips, Chex mix or cheerios, goldfish, etc. Stir it up and serve. Kids can describe what they are doing, measure in desired amounts, describe the flavors, and textures, and engage in great conversation to celebrate the holiday.
