Wonderopolis: Wonderopolis is another excellent free resource with interesting reading passages, vocabulary, and comprehension activities. Search by keyword to find articles that match your student’s interests.
Epic Books: Epic is another amazing website for SLPs, teachers, and families. Epic contains thousands of kid-friendly books organized by reading level and topic of interest. Many of the books have a read-aloud feature. I love using these and sharing them with families for reading at home. You can get free access to this website with an educator email.
Storyline Online: Storyline Online is a fun free tool for sharing great literature with your students and families. This Screen Actors’ Guild Foundation (SAG-AFTRA Foundation) award-winning children’s literacy website streams videos of famous celebrities reading children’s books along with creative illustrations. Celebrity readers include Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine, Viola Davis, Jennifer Garner, Betty White, and many more.
NewsELA: The NewsELA free website offers relevant, timely real-world reading passages that are interesting for great for comprehension and discussion. Offered in multiple reading levels, these news passages are excellent for group discussions, vocabulary building, comprehension, and even carryover of articulation.
